SafePQQ accreditation seal

In the professional commercial cleaning industry, accreditations are very important. They are not just something fancy we can put on our website and company literature, they are visible recognition of our standing in the industry.

It’s Clean have to work to certain hygiene standards in certain industry sectors, such as healthcare and the food industry for example, so we need specific accreditations to allow us to carry out that work. But accreditations also highlight the quality of our work and therefore give us a competitive advantage in comparison to other businesses.

That's why we are
delighted to announce we have received the SafePQQ Accreditation.

Why are accreditations important?

Accreditations can measure the standards of our work, and in some cases you will not be given the chance to tender for certain contracts without having achieved specific accreditations, but they also recognise your standing as an employer, so the SafePQQ accreditation measures how we operate on all levels of our business, and specifically:

  • Finance
  • Environment
  • Quality management
  • Equality
  • Modern slavery
  • Anti-bribery
  • GDPR
  • Right-to-work
  • Building information modelling

We are proud of our reputation as a compassionate and ethical employer and we want that to be reflected in how people see our business. The standards and attitudes we demonstrate towards our own people are mirrored in the work we carry out for others, plus it demonstrates our awareness of current legislation. On top of that, our internal systems for environmental and quality management, and for managing data protection, show how diligent and professional we are, and this can also be seen in the professional standards of our cleaning work.

Our other industry accreditations

The other accreditations we hold are corporate membership of the British Institute of Cleaning Science, member of the Federation of Small Businesses, approved by SafeContractor and recognised as experts by the Cleaning Industry Management Standard, have all been achieved through many years of hard work and dedication.

We have to pass periodical audits and inspections to maintain the certification over subsequent years. This requires commitment at every level of the organisation and certainly requires a ‘buy-in’ from our top level management down to our professional and dedicated commercial cleaning staff.

We are very proud of our newest accreditation, the SafePQQ award, and we feel that this recognises the hard work of internal people within the organisation, but also the fundamental message of the business, which is that we work to the highest standards, we recognise regulatory compliance and we seek to maintain and improve on these standards all day and every day. Perhaps most importantly, we can also bring these standards to your organisation, and help to make your organisation better so that you can also achieve industry accreditations that are relevant to you.

Certainly you can be assured that through regular audits and inspections, the quality of service from It’s Clean will not waver, and that this new accreditation is not just another feather in our cap, it is an indication of the quality of service that will be passed on to you.

When I hit 60, I didn't want a party. I wanted to do something that would actually matter. So instead of celebrating at home, I flew to Ghana and spent a week volunteering with a charity called Village by Village getting my hands dirty, sitting in open-air classrooms, and meeting some of the warmest, most resilient people I have ever encountered anywhere in the world. This is what I found there, and why I think you should know about it. The Charity Village by Village was founded by an old school friend of mine and has, over the years, evolved into something beautifully self-sustaining: it is now predominantly run by Ghanaians in Ghana. That is not an accident, it is central to the charity's entire philosophy. The approach is simple and powerful. Before a single brick is laid, the charity asks the village what they need, and what they can contribute. There is no imposition, no outside organisation deciding what is best for communities they don't understand. The result is genuine local ownership, stronger outcomes, and projects that endure long after the volunteers have gone home. The work focuses on two areas: education and healthcare. In the remote villages of Ghana that the government's budget cannot reach, Village by Village builds schools and medical centres from the ground up and then keeps them supported. What a Volunteer Week Actually Looks Like I'll be honest: I wasn't sure what to expect. What I got was a genuinely physical, genuinely meaningful week that I will never forget. Most mornings began on a building site, mixing cement alongside professional local builders, plastering walls, shifting materials. I wore a bright pink polo shirt bearing the logo of my company, It's Clean, which helped fund the trip, and I got absolutely filthy in it. There is something grounding about hard physical labour in service of something real. There were also two young men — just finished their A-levels — who were wrapping up three months of volunteering. In that time they had helped build playgrounds and medical facilities with their own hands. Their energy, their commitment, and what they had achieved at their age was genuinely extraordinary.
